Charlie Sheen - Sheen And Richards Both Happy With Latest Court Ruling

LATEST: Warring exes CHARLIE SHEEN and DENISE RICHARDS have both emerged "pleased" with the outcome of their latest court hearing in their long and bitter custody battle over their two young daughters.

Former Bond girl Richards was forced to scrap a photoshoot for her reality TV show Denise Richards: It's Complicated on Friday (20Jun08), because Sheen had summoned her to a Los Angeles court.

The actress revealed the news during a phone interview with Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM show - but she refused to say what the nature of the impromptu hearing was.

The couple, who divorced in 2006, has been trading insults through the media for weeks, but after meeting in court on Friday, they both claimed to be happy with the latest ruling.

Sheen's representative tells TMZ.com, "Charlie was very grateful and more than pleased with the court for how they dealt with the custody issues regarding his two children this morning."

And Richards was equally "pleased" with the judge's decision. Her attorney tells TMZ.com the ruling was "in the children's best interests", although neither party has revealed exactly what that outcome was.

Richards and Sheen are parents to three-year-old Sam and Lola, two.

Judge Needs More Time to Review Brit's Case

It was back to court for Britney Spears' camp on Tuesday, where a judge postponed a July hearing to discuss control of the singer's assets.

Commissioner Reva Goetz ruled that the July 31 hearing --which was scheduled to decide whether to end or extend Britney's conservatorship--will instead review matters of evidence in her case, giving attorneys more time to compile information about Brit's affairs.

Goetz also granted the singer's dad and co-conservator, Jamie Spears, permission to sell his daughter's Studio City home.

Following a disastrous split from ex-hubby Kevin Federline, a bitter custody battle over their two sons and an erratic lifestyle that ultimately led to the singer being hospitalized twice for psychiatric evaluations, the court established a conservatorship in February, giving Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet control over Britney's assets and medical decisions.

In the months since, Britney,26, has been lying low, even attempting to get back to work with two successful cameos on the CBS hit How I Met Your Mother.

Neil Young gets new honour - his own spider

LOS ANGELES - Iconic singer and songwriter Neil Young has had an honour bestowed upon him that is not received by many musicians - his own spider. An East Carolina University biologist, Jason Bond, discovered a new species of trapdoor spider and opted to call the arachnid after his favorite musician, Canadian Neil Young, naming it Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi."There are rather strict rules about how you name new species," Bond said in a statement."As long as these rules are followed you can give a new species just about any name you please. With regards to Neil Young, I really enjoy his music and have had a great appreciation of him as an activist for peace and justice."Young, 62, is a veteran rock musician who rose to fame in the 1960s with the band Buffalo Springfield and later became a member of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, whose 1970 release Deja Vu has become a classic rock album. The singer/songwriter, whose solo work ranges from older albums such as Harvest to newer CDs like Living with War, has long been an activist for social and anti-war causes.

Bond discovered the new spider species in Jefferson County, Alabama, in 2007. He said spiders in the trapdoor genus, who tend to live in burrows and build trap doors to seal off their living quarters, are distinguished from one species to the next on the basis of differences in genitalia. He confirmed through the spider's DNA that the Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi is an identifiable, separate species of spider within the trapdoor genus.Young is not the first musician to have a creature named after him. A species of beetle that looks as if it is wearing a tuxedo - the whirligig beetle, or Orectochilus orbisonorum - was named earlier this year after the late rock 'n' roll legend Roy Orbison and his widow Barbara.- REUTERS/Nielsen

Face to Face with Westlife: ardent fan gets her wish

What do you ask one of the world's biggest bands when they have probably heard every conceivable question many times over?Answer: Turn to the fans. When the Herald was given a chance to talk to Irish heart-throbs Westlife in Christchurch yesterday, this journalist stood aside, and long-time fan Kristy Lyttle stepped up.Westlife, with 40 million albums sold and nearly as many number one hits as the Beatles, started their New Zealand tour with a sold-out show in Christchurch last night and will finish with a concert in Auckland on Monday that has been added because of the huge demand for tickets.A self-described "old school fan", Miss Lyttle, 25, has followed thefortunes of Westlife since she was a teenager. But even before the seed analyst got to the hotel function room for the interview of her life, the anxiety almost became too much."When I was first asked, I had a little freak-out," she said. "I've never met a celebrity before."Amid the hustle and bustle of interviews and photographs, a highly stressed Miss Lyttle was thrust before the band before she knew it, and was delving into her carefully considered questions.

Miss Lyttle: Growing up, you guys were on our bedroom walls; who was on your bedroom walls?Nicky Byrne recalled posters of Kylie Minogue and busty Baywatch actress Erika Eleniak, while fellow band member Mark Feehily remembered pictures of Mariah Carey and Claudia Schiffer among many.Miss Lyttle: If you could be anyone else, and have any other job for a day, what would it be and why?An eclectic mix of answers: Tiger Woods, pro surfer Kelly Slater, Brad Pitt and Prince.Miss Lyttle: What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever given you?Band member Kian Egan: We've had some, not just weird stuff, but pretty disgusting stuff as well, and I won't go into too much detail. There's stuff that could be funny weird - I was given a potato once, Mark was given a turnip.Miss Lyttle: Is there one Westlife song you guys are just sick to the gills of singing?Mark Feehily: We have recorded literally over 200 songs, so I think there probably are a few.Shane Filan: The ones that we don't sing that much are the ones we don't like much. With the interview complete, and a photograph with the band to remember it, Miss Lyttle's job was done."You've made my day," she said, "you've made my year."

Sharon Osbourne Hopes Cheryl Cole Will Be Her X Factor Replacement

Cheryl Cole and Sharon OsbourneSharon Osbourne says she wants Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole to be her replacement on The X Factor.

Osbourne, who quit the ITV talent show because of a feud between herself and Dannii Minogue, admits she is 'overpaid and spoiled', and says she adores the 'No Good Advice' hitmaker and thinks she would be perfect on the show.

She says, "I have heard they are asking certain people [to replace me]. I think they are asking Cheryl Cole who I love.

"There are also asking Mel B. It will be interesting and give the show a different look."

The 55-year-old wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne explained her move away from the show was not just about the cash.

She says, "Yes, I was negotiating with them over money. I asked for a ridiculous amount of money and they offered me an obscene amount of money but it wouldnt change it, because I feel it is just time to move on.

"But we are all overpaid anyway! Thats why we are all spoiled brats."

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Sharon is set to star in the UK equivalent of Dancing With Stars, Strictly Come Dancing.
